Madurai Kamaraj University was established in the year 1966 by Govt. of Tamilnadu. It is a Statutory University and recognized & funded by UGC. The Directorate of Distance Education of this university was set up in the year 1971. MKU is a member of Association of Indian Universities. The University has been reaccredited with grade A by NAAC.
